Snails

We found snails in our garden.
It was Timmy's first time seeing real snails.
Normally he only reads it in the story.
Exciting for him and me. ;)

When we touch the tentacle, it would go in...shortly afterward, come out again. Interesting.

In French restaurant, people would have cook it into yummy escargot.
Don't think that I can swallow it though.

Giant Chicken

Giant chicken at Summarecon Mall Serpong.
Timmy has encountered so many chicken in the past few days...from real chicken, to the giant chicken. Hehehe...

Being a fan of chickens, he was excited to see this huge chicken.
hahahaha...

Cheeky faces

Donal Bebek Lovers

We were inspired by Donal Bebek.
This morning, I was reading a story out of Donal Bebek for Timmy.
And we decided to play it out and draw it too.

Timmy had lots of fun letting his imagination soar.
In the story, Donal's bus was climbing the steep hill;
Timmy took his chickens to ride on the car and climbed the steep stairs. :)

When the bus needed the plane's help to pull it;
Timmy took a plane on his right hand, and his car with his left hand.

And I draw my version of the bus and he draw his version. :)
Fun!

Jogjakarta

Timmy had fun with the chicken, located right in front of the Es Dawet store.

Not far from there, there is this water-gate. I was explaining to him that if it is closed then the water cannot flow, vice versa if it is opened, then the water can flow.

Right after that, there was this girl who sat on the water gate and pulled it opened! Gosh, she was strong...and Timmy got to see what I just told him. Fun!
And he tried to open it too. hahahaha..

From there, we headed off to Kaliurang. Nice mountain top area...
We had Nasi Goreng, Mie Goreng and Sate Kelinci.

The fun part was that they had the 'train' there.
Since Timmy was still fascinated by the trains, he had lots of fun.
I was explaining to him, asking him to notice the difference between the wheels with the real train that he saw the other day. The wheels is similar with the bus and the train here can move without the railway. Hence, the machine that this 'train' use is similar to the bus machine.

At the airport, he was having fun observing the weighing machine. :)

Jogjakarta

We went to Kasongan. It's a place where they sell lots of handicraft. I got myself a claypot for the price of only Rp. 12,000. Good price! :)

Timmy got himself a spinning top and a wooden gun. He never has a gun toy before. This one, can be turned to create the "Dor" sound. This gun is expensive, considering with the same price, I can get myself a claypot. Hahahaha...

We visited Stasiun Jogjakarta, in the search of Es Dawet. hahahaha...
But, Timmy ended up having a nice field trip to a train station.
And he got to see purple train as a bonus! Since purple is his favorite color.

He was waiting for the train to come, peeping from a distance.
Watching it closely as the gate closed, the train approached and the "Tut-tut" sound right near him, which surprised him. hehehehe...
He got to see becak, yellow train and another one which was carrying Pertamina fuel.
Very interesting!

On the way to Malioboro, we saw a pick-up truck which was carrying cows, right in front of our car. Cool!

This was when Timmy was enjoying his bowl of noodle. Yum!

16 July 2010

The next day, 16 July 2010, when my alarm rang at 03.15 am, Timmy was awaken too.
He was excited!

Timmy: "Mom, we should wake up. We will go to the airport today. Chicken, we will go to Jogja today."

He got his own travel trolley bag and I packed his clothes there.
He packed his own little chicken, mother chicken, father chicken and little duck.
Then pulled it by himself all the way...around airports, in the plane aisle.

Finally we arrived Jogja.
Timmy doesn't like it during the plane take-off and landing, because his ear would hurt. So we bought lots and lots of candy for this occasion.
Normally he wouldn't be allowed to eat too much candy.
This would be an exception for him. hehehehe..

15 July 2010

Timmy's school supposed to start on 14 July 2010, but his holiday got extended. hahaha Because the Chinese teachers' licence permit from Department of Immigration only allows them to start teaching from 19 July 2010 onwards.

Cool! Extended holiday! :)

On 15 July 2010, we stayed overnight at Benny's mom's house.
Because our flight to Jogja would be at 06.00 am the next day, which means that we need to leave the house at around 04.00 am.

That night, Timmy refused to sleep...
Timmy: "Mom, why are the others are not asleep yet? They should be sleeping too."
After going in and out of the room several times, he was finally asleep.

Before he went to sleep, his grandma told him that he needed to wake up early the next day, around 3.30 am. Because we would leave at 04.00 am. The taxi would pick us up.

The next day, when my alarm rang at 03.15 am, Timmy really woke up.
He even woke up before his grandma and aunts. :)
His talking was like a wake up call for them. hihihihi...

Long time no post

Long time no post...

I've been busy for the past few days.
Over the weekend, we went to Jogjakarta for Benny's cousin's wedding.

And on Monday, 19 July 2010, Timmy started school.

Will post more updates later.... :)

Cheers!

Wakey Wakey....Sleepy Sleepy

In the morning, when I wake Timmy up, I would say: Wakey....Wakey....
(For wake up, wake up) :)
He would reply me: Sleepy....Sleepy...

Me: Morning routine...
Tim: Bedtime routine...

School gonna start soon, I wonder how could we make our morning wake up time earlier?
Oh......we have been sleeping in during this holiday.

Challenge is just round the corner....

Little notes

I would like to make little note for myself, in case my mind goes rusty.

1) Today, we went to my mother in law's house; and pass through the road that we used to walk while Timmy went to a catholic school, Sang Timur.
Me: "Tim, we used to walk here everyday to school. Remember?"
Tim: "Yeah...and I don't like the tree without the leaves..."

I was surprised that he could still recall. Because that was more than 1 year ago and we have traveled to so many places after that. The last time he attended this school was May 2009, and now it's July 2010.

We were waiting for my mother in law to come.
Me: "Do you want to go to your ex-school Tim?"
Timmy: "No, I'm not playgroup anymore. What if the teacher there ask me? I'm TK B now."

Me: "Ok, then let's go to the church. (The church is next to the school).
Tim: "Mom, what's that triangle thing there?"
Me: "It's for the bell."
Tim: "No, I don't want to go."
Me: "The bell won't ring today. It will only ring when there is a mass on Sunday."
Tim: "No."
Dough....so, we were standing in front of the motor parking space, beside the road.
I tried to negotiate with him, but to no avail.
Luckily, not long after my mother in law has come. Fiuh!
Saved by the bell.

2) The other day, while Timmy was having his potty training, I was reading him a book about animals. I wanted to read just 1 section of the book. Timmy wanted me to go on till we finish the whole book.

The book describes about each animal and the name of their babies.
Like dogs baby is called puppies, cat's kitten, cow's calf, etc.

Towards the end of the of the book, there are some similar names.

Out of the blue I asked him, "Hey...Penguin babies are called pups. This is the similar names with the animal that we have read! Do you know what animal is it?" (tadinya iseng2 aja).
Timmy: Dog.
Me: "Wow... hahahahaha..."

Me: "How about this one: Walrus... I have 2 long tusks. I can swim very well. My baby is called calf. Hey it's the same again with what animal?"
Timmy: Cow!
Me: "Hahahaha...you remember Tim."
Timmy: "Hahahahaha..." He was very happy and gave me a big hug.

3) Timmy was playing with Tari today, and Tari told me this story.
She saw a newspaper add with airplane on it and said: "Ini Tim, lihat ni..."
Tim: "Iya, aku pernah naik lho Mbak. Tapi yang Singapore airlines. Ada TVnya, ada headseatnya. Buat dengerin lagu."
Tari: "Kenapa pake itu?"
Tim: "Iya...biar ngga berisik. Di pesawat ada 800 orang lho. Kan kasihan kalo berisik."

4) I told Timmy that we will go to Farmers market after dinner.
But apparently, by the time we finish dinner, it's too late. Hence:
Me: "Tim, how about if we go to Farmers market tomorrow?"
Tim: "Why Mom?"
Me: "Because it's getting late, it's 7.00 pm already now."
Tim: "No Mom, it's OK. Because Farmers Market opens until 10.00 pm."
(Oh...gosh...he knows..)
But finally he agreed to go there tomorrow instead, and told his chicken:
Tim: "Chicken, we are not going to Farmers market after dinner. Because Mommy said that it's too late. It's dark already. So, we will go tomorrow."

5) Prior to going to Farmers market, I wrote myself a shopping list.
Apparently Timmy took it and added "ice cream" on the list. hehehehe...
At the ice cream counter, he was looking for the blue berry flavour. But to no avail.
The lady was there and she asked him: Cari yang rasa apa?
Tim: Blueberry.
The lady: Udah ngga ada, gantinya yang rasa ini.
Tim: enak gak?
The lady: Enak juga.
Tim: Ya udah deh, ini aja.
hehehehe..

6) When my back hurts, Timmy comforted me...with the chicken.

7) Before we went to Bandung, I told Timmy that I need to buy the dust mask because I'm allergic to dust. It could cause me to sneeze. Hatchi...hatchi...
Tim: Don't worry Mom. When you sneeze, I will say: Bless you...bless you.
hahahaha...

At the preparation, Timmy told his chickens: "Chickens...we are going to Bandung."
Put them in the red plastic and into his luggage and carried them around the house, like a happy boy.

8) Before bedtime, we usually have bedtime stories.
That night, Timmy negotiated for more stories, by counting the good deeds that he has done throughout the day. Coz 1 good deed would entitle him for 1 more extra bonus story. hahahaha...

9) At the Sunday school, the teachers said that for the kids who are brave and go alone, through the front door. For those that are still accompanied by parents or maid, through the back door.

Timmy said that he wanted to be brave. And he did. Although it was his first time going to the Sunday school again, after 2 years of not going.

On the way down to get the blessings from the Father, the kids queue.
And Timmy started pushing the boy in front of him, who is much bigger than him.
(Timmy's height was up to his chin). And the boy pushed him back.

I was watching from a distance...to observe what's gonna happen.
Later that day, I asked him why did he do that? Tim said because he didn't want the boy to stop and stand that way.

I told him that next time, he should say it nicely. Because if he pushed, he wouldn't understand what you want, Ok Tim?

Before bed, apparently Timmy remembered the song that they taught at Sunday school.
B A I K, baik.....B A I K, baik.... saya mau sperti Yesus, BAIK baik.
Aku mau baik Mama. :)

10) While riding a bike, Timmy would say, this is speed 1, and he pedalled slowly.
Speed 2, a bit faster...
Speed 3, faster...
Speed 4, even faster...
Speed 5, speeding real fast, that I even have to speed to catch up with him, till my thigh sore. hehehehe...

11) I was reading a story to Timmy about Energy.
And they explained about Potential energy, Kinetic energy. with the illustrations of a girl on the diving board.

Then I used his duck and held it high, then explain that now the duck has potential energy.... but as it drops, it has kinetic energy.

The book then has questions:
1. a skier at the top of the slope, can you identify what type of energy?
Tim: Potential energy.

2. Skier racing down a slope.
Tim: Kinetic energy.

3. Racing car at full speed.
Tim: Kinetic energy.

He answered them correctly! Wow! I'm amazed.
I used to learn this when I was a high school. Tim, at the age of 4. hehehehe.

After that, we watched the video of Youth Olympic Games, for 10 meter platform diving. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/user/olympicsingapore2010#p/u/57/bf-UypHQYJY

Mickey Mouse Club House

Over the weekend, I was staying over at my parents' house.
Timmy got to watch Mickey Mouse Club House at Playhouse Disney.

Previously, he didn't like to watch it. Because he didn't like the question mark when mouseketool came out.

But last weekend, while he was watching it, my parents and I watched it together with him.

This morning on the way to church, Timmy pretended that he has this mouseketool with him, which will show him the way.
Tim: "Who do we ask for help when we don't know which way to go?"
Dad: "Map."
Tim: "No. Mouseketool. What do you say to call Mouseketool?"
Tim and Dad: "Outodooo......"

It was so funny looking at them together.
My Dad really had fun with Timmy around.

Tim: "Outodoo Mouse ke tool."
Dad: "Outodoo Mau Ze Dong."

Hahahaha...

Time out for Mama

Recently, Timmy made a pretend house for his little chicken.
It's actually my backpack that he transformed into the 'house'.

He really wanted to make a complete house for his chicken.
So, he put tissues, toothpastes, pen, pencils, eraser, mother chicken, father chicken, little duck, lotions, powder until the bag is really compact and full. Then, put it beside his bed.

The other day, I was looking for a pencil which I just bought for him.
Since the pencil is new, I was wondering where is it?

I started to unpack this bag, to see whether the pencil is there.
Apparently, it is and found it at the bottom part of the bag...which means that his chicken 'house' is in a big mess! And Timmy came!

He was really upset...and cried...and got angry.

I know it's my fault. I should have respected his personal belongings.
I said sorry then...

I found Timmy's response funny:
Timmy: "Mom, Argh! I'm very angry! Put it back. Ahhhhh... Now it won't even fit.
Can you remember how I put and arranged it before?
Now, you should go into the time out Mom. Since you are 32 years old, so you should be in the time out for 32 minutes."

Then he was looking at the clock to tell me when I could get off from the time out place. *Oops*

After the time out is finished he told me, next time you shouldn't do that again Mom. I love you, but I don't like it when you mess my chicken house. Okay Mom?
Me: "Okay Tim. Sorry. I was trying to find the pencil."

Wet Market

Last weekend, my Mom needed to go to the market to do her grocery shopping. Since Timmy is a big fan of chicken, we decided to bring him to the wet market to see the real 'alive' chicken.

He was covering his nose and said: "Mom, it's smelly. Let's get out from the market." He refused to enter to the fish section and preferred to wait outside.
hihihi...

I remembered that I used to be like that too when I was little. hehehehe.

Timmy: 4 years and 8 months old

Timmy is now 4 years and 8 months old.

Height: 112 cm
Weight: 21 kg

At this age, he:
- likes to watch Bob the Builder and Dora the Explorer.
(Although I banned him from watching Dora, because he imitates Swiper so much). :p

- has stopped playing with the water tap (which used to drive me mad).

- is learning to write letters

- loves to write numbers... he could sit still and writes numbers from 1 - 510.

- likes to eat sweets and candies (although given daily quota of only 1 by Mommy).

- is learning to play with friends and improve social skills.

- likes to test Mom and Dad's patience.

Despite the many headaches, having Timmy in our family has brighten our days, add colors to our marriage life... and I'm thankful to God for this wonderful gift that He has entrusted to our family.

He teaches us things about life, about being patient, about the need to always rely upon God’s strength and wisdom in bringing up our child in the family.

We pray always for God's love and guidance in our family life...
Amen.

Shopping with Timmy

Fun time at the fitting room. hehehehe...

Celebrating 20 years of Mall Kelapa Gading. We used to come to this Mall when I was little... I could still remember reading Richie Rich book here hahahaha...

When I was teenager, during high school years, we used to come here with friends over the weekend for a movie, to hang out...

I could still remember clearly going to Wendy's with my swimming friends prior going to Oz... Time flies...

Timmy was amazed at the pregnant mannequin. He was touching the tummy, peeping from underneath. hihihi...

And he had fun with the mini washing machine which was only up to his hip height.

Finally, he was enjoying himself... :)

IndoBuild Tech Exhibition Part 2

After the exhibition, I asked Timmy what is the best part that he like?
I thought and guess in my heart that he's gonna like the automatic door tester machine. And I was surprised by his answer:
Tim: "I like taking the candies best!" hahahahahaha...

Most of the stall provides free candy on their table and Timmy had been taking them as he walked pass by. This pockets were full of candies, till if he bend over to sit on a chair, the candies will fall out of his pocket.

Kids...kids... hehehehehe.

IndoBuild Tech Exhibition Part 1

Last weekend, we attended IndoBuild Tech Exhibition at Jakarta Convention Center.
It was Timmy's first time attending such exhibition.

Me: "Tim, later we will attend IndoBuild Exhibition. They will sell paint, marble, tiles, etc. It's a big place."
Tim: "Oh...we are going to place like Mitra 10. But it will be bigger."
Me: "Hm...something like that Tim." (Deep inside my heart, I like his logic. hahaha).

Timmy got the chance to draw and write on the wall.
They were selling the paint that can be washed off. Just spray it and tralala! Clean! Cool!

There was also this person who dress in "Tap".
Timmy was exploring it, turning around it, and peeping through the hole. hahahaha.

He was amazed at this automatic closet...automatic flushing, heating up the toilet seat, automatic nozzle, hidrolic seat cover, remote control, power saving...

Then there was this shower...with seat, FM Radio... I didn't even notice that there was FM Radio until Timmy told me: "Mom, why there is radio while they take a shower?"
Me: "Really? Oh ya... Wow! So they can listen to the radio while they are taking a shower Tim."

Timmy was approached by this big 'termite". hehehehehe...
He was looking at it and ran away! hahahahaha...

Interesting pipe from big to small...

Timmy explored the water heater and how it works....He was reading the specification:
Volt:
Watt:
Hertz:
Tim: "What is Hertz Mom?"
Me: "You can ask Papa later Tim." (Oh my goodness...I have forgotten what I learned at high school. hahahahaha. I think I need his dad's help on this. hehehehe)

Little Chicken

Last weekend, we stayed overnight at my parents' house.
I forgot to bring Timmy's little chicken.
It's his lovey dovey which accompanies him to sleep every night.

Previously I told him about what to prepare and bring to his grandparents house, and got his things in 1 separate bag.
He was still playing with little chicken...
Tari reminded him to remember to bring it.... and he forgot and so did I...

Half way near Tomang, he suddenly remembered his little chicken; and asked us to detour to get it. We tried to deviate his mind from it and it worked.

However, at night time...he was miserable.
Luckily, that morning, he was playing with my handphone and took photos of his little chicken.

So, I tried to soothe him:
Me: "Tim...it's okay. Little chicken is at home. He is safe at home... with his mommy... He is taking care and guarding our house."
Tim: "No..he can't guard the house."
Me: "Look, we got the photos of little chicken in my handphone. Do you want to see it?"
Tim: "Huuuu.....little chicken...I miss you....Huuu...(Sobbing and tears ran down his cheeks)

While he was drinking milk, one hand held the milk, the other hand held my phone while stroking the screen of my mobile, saying: "Chicken....I miss you."

Oh...it's seems like a boyfriend missing his girlfriend.
(That's what I thought deep inside my heart... hahahaha)

Ular Tangga

We played Ular Tangga yesterday.
I taught Timmy the rules of the game...
when you reach the ladder, you can go up...
but when you reach the snake's tail, you must go down to the head of the snake.

We started playing according to the rules,
but when Timmy nearly reached the finished, he reached the snake, then going down...
that happened several times... hehehehehe...

Then he said:
"Mom, I don't wanna reach the snake's tail.
So, whenever I stop at the snake, I will re-roll the dice. Okay?"

Me: "No, Tim...that's the rule of the game."
Tim: "But Mom, if it is that way, I will never finish... I kept going down."
Me: "That's the probability Tim...Perhaps sometimes when you roll the dice, you won't touch the snake.."
Tim: "Ya Mom, that's why it's better if I re-roll the dice..."

Cheeky boy....
He started thinking of another way to finish the game.

02 July 2010

Timmy and Jillian

This afternoon we played at the Play Park.
There was this girl named Jillian who likes to play with Timmy.

When Timmy wanted to play the swing, and Alice came to snatch the swing from Timmy; Jillian came and scold Alice... Wooow!

When Timmy jumped, Jillian jumped.

Kids these days... hahahahaha..

01 July 2010

Socializing at the Play Park

Timmy's teacher have been saying that he should improve his social skills and physical motoric skills. So, this holiday we schedule an afternoon play at the play park.

I'm happy that he could meet lots of his peer friends...
Timmy learns how to be nice and polite...
how to ask for permission before playing with other kids things or toys...
how to empathize with other people's feeling...
how to take turns...

Keep up the good work Tim!

Made our little forest

We made our little forest....with cardboards...and crayons...newspaper ad... and voila! Then we could put the dinosaur, dogs, birds and kitten... hehehehe.
