Recycling Soap Bar

Do you ever have so many little soap bars?
I did...

Every time I change a new soap bar, I tried to stick the old one to the new one. But no matter how hard I press, it just won't stick. Or it will just stick for a while, and slipped away...

In the end, I just left it aside...
till one day I realised that it is so many...
So, I thought if I could get it to stick together, I could have one big soap bar...

It was experimental... I have never done this before.
hehehehe...

Put it all in a small bowl, mixed it with a bit of water and melted it on the stove...

Timmy was watching near by...
the little metal bowl wobbled, the water and soap inside started to sizzle...

We started to have a nice funny smell in our kitchen...

Not long after, he ran away, saying: "Mom, this is just too scary!"

After it's not too hot, I squeezed the soap together (like playing play-doh) hahahaha...

Voila! We had a big colorful soap...
Big smiley face.

Captain Hook Lunch Box

Following our pirate play, we made the Captain Hook's  lunch box for Timmy to bring to school. He was so excited.

When I asked Timmy how was lunch? Timmy told me that one of his classmate walked passed him and saw what he brought for lunch, and told another friend, then another friend told another friend, then another friend told the class room teacher, and the class room teacher told the Mandarin teacher.  I found it so funny.  Timmy liked it so much and he asked perhaps next time, we can make the Jake lunch box Mom.

Thank you so much for the idea Disney...

Making our hand made fan

Chicken's Operation

Timmy's little chicken's left foot has a hole in it, because Timmy has been touching and rubbing it every night.

Grandma saw it and asked whether Timmy would like it to be repaired, and he said yes.  So, the little chicken had an operation for its left foot.

First, grandma measured the foot.

And as grandma cut it, Timmy said: "Ouch....ouch..." and he winced in pain.
The cut out left foot.

Then Timmy accompanied and watched as grandma fixed it.

The chicken on the operating table. hehehehe.

and Timmy cared for it, as it went through the operation. hehehehe..

Ah...Timmy Timmy... you cared so much.

Painting with Ice Cube

Hola everyone!
During the hot weather, we thought of doing something fun with the ice cube.

Here's what we did:
1. Mixed blue and red food coloring into the water, and let it freeze.
When it is frozen, we took it out and we had nice colorful frozen dragonflies, butterflies, and lady bugs.

2. We used the ice to draw and color.

Yay! A simple yet fun activity in the hot weather.

Jake and the Never Land Pirates - The Pirate Princess

Pirate Play

Jake and the Neverland Pirates is Timmy's current favorite TV show.
And honestly, I like it too. hehehehe...

We would be sitting in front of the TV, watching it together.
Every time the theme song appears, Timmy would be running close to the TV, cupping his hands around his ears to listen to the words of the song.

And yay hay! I found the lyrics over the internet. Timmy will be very happy when he sees this.  (He is sleeping as I type this, and it will be a surprise for him tomorrow).

Just off the shores of Never Land
A hideaway at sea
Yo Ho! Yo Ho!
Let's Go! Let's Go!
A pirate band outwits the plans
Of Captain Hook and Smee
Yo Ho! Yo Ho!
Let's Go! Let's Go!

The merry crew of Never Land Pirates
Through & Through - they're jolly buccaneers
Join with Jake and the Neverland Pirates
Come Along - We need some volunteers.

Jake - Ahoy!
Izzy - Ahoy!
Cubby - Ahoy!
Skully - Ahoy!

Yo-oooooO! Yo Ho!

Jake and the Never Land Pirates
Climb aboard, Me Hearties, and be a pirate true.
Let's go! With Jake and the Neverland Pirates
We'll set the course together - Come on and join the crew

Yo Ho! Let's Go!

Today we thought of putting on our very own pirate play.
First we made the the pirate paper plate masks.

Timmy is drawing his mask.

My mask
Timmy's mask with the angry bird on it. Hehe!

We drew our pirate ship.

Our Treasure map, with the Rainbow Falls, Never Peak Mountain, X mark where the Treasure Chest is, and the North, South, East, West mark and pirate ship.
And our Treasure Map!
Just like how Cubby is reading the treasure map.

Our Treasure Chest.

The binocular.

With those equipment ready, we headed outdoor and play pretend pirates.
Ready...Set...Hook!    hahahahaha...
I just simply laughed out loud when I heard Timmy said "Ready Set Hook", as he pushed his bike out of the garage and started pedaling.

And Timmy chose to be Captain Hook and I became Jake.
So he was chasing me around. hahahahaha...
We did have lots of fun and sang the song as we pedaled along.

" Yo ho mateys away, there'll be pirates adventures today...
He ho way to go together as a team, Jake and the neverland pirates and me!"

We rode our bike around the blocks, towards the Neverland Lake and the Neverland Island.

Timmy said: "Mom, this is the Neverland Island. I'm Captain Hook and I will try to go up there and you need to stop me.  To stop me, you can tickle my feet."  hahahahahaha...

Arriving the Neverland Island.

Captain Hook is trying to get up there...

And trying another way....

Ah....Captain Hook managed to get up there!

Captain Hook in action.

And according to the treasure map, there is Rainbow Waterfall and the Never Peak Mountain.. Yo ho, let's go!
The waterfall and the Neverland Peak Mountain
Captain Hook on the path

And this is the path back to the Never Land.

I like this one.

Near the waterfall
 Watch out...I'm gonna get you!
Wooooo!

Running along the path...

And Captain Hook sails away..

Way hey, well done crew
Everyone knew just what to do
Way hey, with help from you
It's time to count our gold doubloons."

Timmy and I, with our masks on.

To complete the day, we finished off with the Pirates Bedtime story...
Way Hay!

We had a great day and a great physical exercise.
Love you Tim!

Twins

Among our daily life, Timmy meets several twins,
- his classmates: Ralf & William,
- our neighbour:  Cherish  Cheryl,
- the kindergarten boys: Raynard & Matthew,
- Julian & Julio.

Suddenly he asked me: "Mom, so if it is twins, is it from 2 eggs and 2 sperms?"

Honestly, I don't know the answer, and I told him so.
I had to googled and searched the internet for the answer.

Frankly, I was surprised, how could he asked me that question?
Then I remembered reading him a story about "How babies are made".
But that was quite a long time ago, when his cousin was here.
And we read that story when we were at my mother-in-law's house.
Perhaps that's where he knew the terms about egg and sperm.

I searched the internet and found interesting answers.
Apparently, there are several types of twins:
1. Fraternal / non-identical twins, occurs when two eggs are fertilized by two different sperms.
They may look different from each other, just like siblings.
They may have the same or different gender and may have different blood types.

2. Monozygotic / Identical twins,  occurs when a single egg is fertilized by a sperm, to form a zygote, which then splits to form two separate embryos.    They have the 'mirror image' of each other and  always the same gender.

3.  Half-identical / semi- identical twins,   the very rare form of twinning whereby the twins inherit exactly the same genes from the mother, but different genes from the father.  The exact mechanism of their conception is not well understood, although theoretically occurs in polar body twinning where sperm fertilize the ovum and the second polar body.

Here's the simple summary that I made for Timmy:

Then we talked about how the baby grows when the baby is in the womb.
