Sleepless Night

It has been a while since I had my sleepless night.
Those were the days, when Timmy was little.

Recently, I had those sleepless night again.
When Timmy said that he can't sleep, he was restless, and threw up at night.
I read him bedtime stories, made him milk, tucked him in bed and said our night prayer together,  accompanied him to sleep...

Just as I thought that he has fallen asleep, I gently got out of bed, tiptoed to my room.
Just a few steps of my walking, Timmy woke up.
He realised that I was awake.

There I go again, went back to his bed, slept beside him.
The process happened several times.
That night I had my sleepless night.

It reminded me of Timmy's baby and toddler days...
When I had to wake up several times at night,
to feed him milk....
to comfort him when he cried....
to rock him in my craddle....

I'm glad that those days are over....
And the recent occasion reminded me of those early motherhood days....

I can't bear the thought of having another baby.
I don't think that I'll have the energy and strength of waking up at night....
then having to wake up in the morning to prepare breakfast for Timmy, and send him to school,
then having to take care of the baby, when I come back from school for the baby...
There is no way that I'll have the energy needed.

Now, when Timmy has gone to school,
I can rest for a while, then clean the house, or go to the bank, or hang out with other mothers for a while,
or go to the market, and cook.
I like my life now.

Well, marriage and motherhood is full of ups and downs...
I need to learn along the way...
And may God guide me along the way...
to become the kind of self,
to become the kind of wife,
to become the kind of mother,
that God wants me to be....
Please guide me God...
Amen.

Prayer

Do You Like It When I'm not around Mom?

One day after school, Timmy suddenly asked me:
Tim: "Mom, do you like it when I'm not around? So you can do things peacefully on your own?"

Well, I told him:
Me: "I like having you around Tim... You make my day bright, you keep me busy, and you accompany me. I like being your Mom.

But there are times when you have to go to school, and I have to do my job too.
To buy groceries, to clean the house, etc.   And sometimes I can do those things faster on my own.
Sometimes I do need the peace and quiet too at home, the time for myself...to unwind...."

Candy Crush Saga

When I first started to play Candy Crush Saga, the following conversation occured:

Me: How can I clear all the jelly if it keeps coming down? After I cleared 3 jellies, others came down again.

Tim: No Mom, that's not the jelly you have to clear.

Me: What do you mean? Isn't.these are all jellies?

Tim: It's not the jelly you have to clear. The ones you must clear is the square transparant ones.

Me: Which one?

Tim: These ones.

Me: Oohhhh.... Hahaha. Thanks Tim. Hahaha.

What Does Amen mean?

Last night, before we sleep, Timmy asked me: "Mom, what does Amen mean?"
Well, I don't really know the anser, and today I had to google up the answer.

And here it is:
When one says "amen" in response to a prayer, it serves as an affirmation of agreement with the content of the prayer (cf. 1 Cor 14:16)—in which case it is sometimes translated "So be it" (cf. CCC 2856)—or as an expression of faith that God will hear and act on the prayer.
Bottom line: Amen is an interjection associated with the Hebrew words for truth and dependability, it conveys the idea of agreement or emphasis, and its meaning can be translated different ways depending on the context.

Fish and Chips

Usually when I cook, I just stir-fry, or steam, or boil.
Today, I decided to make fish and chips, which involves lots of frying.
Verdict: frying is too troublesome.

Despite my effort in covering the sizzling wok, the oil splashes all over my stove and on the floor within 1 meter of the stove, plus some of the hot oil splashes on my hand.

After the cooking......cleaning it... is extra hard work.
At that time I thought: "That's it. Next time, no more frying."

When Timmy came back from school, he said: "Hm...this is the yummiest cooking you have ever made Mom." Hahahahaha...

Timmy read this blog post and he said: "So...am I never going to taste this yummy food again Mom? Because you said that it is so troublesome to clean-up? If I say I like it, will you change your mind?

Old Sewing Machine

It was school holiday and we stayed over at my mother-in-law's place for the whole month.
Benny had a job at Cibubur and  his colleague  stays nearby my mother-in-law's place, so they could go to work together.

Here's a snapshot of Timmy helping his grandma with the old sewing machine.
This sewing machine is more than 100 years old.
It has nothing electric and it still has to be turned by hand.

So, there Timmy was helping his grandma to sew.
It was fun for him turning that old sewing machine. Hahahahaha.
He said: "Mom, look! I can turn it as fast as the motorized one!"  Hahahaha...

My mother-in-laws has 2 sewing machines. 1 with the motor, and 1 with the hand handle.
The one with the hand handle was broken, and that day, it was just being fixed.
And she had his grandson to help him to try out the repaired sewing machine by sewing a shirt.

Fun get together activity!

Kelapa Gading Sports Club

It has been a while since I went back to Kelapa Gading Sports Club.
Going back to this place, always brings back my childhood memory.

We were a family member of this place since the 1980s.
I can still remember clearly swimming there every Tuesday and Friday during my high school days.
Priiitt.....Butterfly stroke, back stroke, free style and breast stroke.  The frog style. hahahaha.
We called it "gaya kodok" here. hahaha.

They keep on renovating the place, making it a nice and cozy place to go to.
And surprisingly, my swimming teacher still recognized me when I re-visited this July.

I was taking a photo of the following, when my swimming teacher passed by and said: "Helen?"
Me: "Eh...Om Wowon!"
He still looks just like before.
But now he has moved up the management ladder and no longer a swimming teacher.
It was very nice indeed going back to this place.

When Timmy was little, I used to bring him a lot to this place too.
We would have our morning walk.  Each round was 350 meter. Timmy could wak 3 rounds, at the age of 1 nearly 2 years old.    There was one day when I found a young coconut, and I thought of showing it to Timmy.   He ended up carrying that whole round coconut for nearly 1 round.  hahahaha.

Positives

My Years with Timmy

That day, I was very angry towards Timmy.
He was grumpy, cranky, whiny...

Then I came across this:  It was like a gentle reminder for me.
It was that moment that I felt like I was being reminded: "to teach, guide, shape Timmy's character during those formative years."
Please guide me God...to have the unconditional love like You do towards us.  Amen.

Inspirative Prayer ... for Timmy.

I came across this prayer, and I think these words are really suitable for Timmy.
Hehehehe...

This is something for Timmy and I as a reminder. :)
