Timmy's comment

These days Timmy usually goes to the male toilets.

One day, he followed me to the ladies toilet.
While he was waiting for me to buttoned up my belt, Timmy commented:
"Oh, ladies are so complicated." " 哎呀, 女人很麻烦."

A 5 year old boy, commented that way. hahaha...
I told him: "So Tim, when you grow up, you should wait for the ladies Ok. And that's why there is longer queue at the ladies toilet." hehehehe...

When Timmy Accompanied Me Shopping

This is what happened when Timmy accompanied me shopping.
He found his 'nice', secluded spot and played his car game.
Oh, boys will always be boys. hahahaha...

"Let's see the beauty and joy in our world with love and with reverence. A feeling of profound awe, respect and gratitude...
Joy is an attitude of the innermost heart.

Joy can not only replace fear, but it can also provide a gateway to a peaceful and calm heart. If raising children who are peaceful and who can grow up to be peacemakers is important to you, then you finding your own joy in your life and showing this in your every task and in your being is the place to begin.

Our children will surely notice and follow our hearts and attitudes."
The Joy of Parenting.

In the book “Boundaries With Kids” by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend, the authors write, “ Your task as a parent is to help your child develop inside him what you have been providing on the outside: responsibility, self-control, and freedom.” And I would add love and compassion for themselves and for their fellow human beings and the things we as human beings have stewardship for.

The Day We Visited the Farm

We visited a farm back in March 2011.
A nice coincident because we were planning to go somewhere else. And on the way, Benny's uncle brought us to this farm. We wanted to buy the fresh milk.

It was my first time seeing how they milk the cow, right before my eyes! How exciting! Timmy used to ask me where does the milk come from? And we had the opportunity to see it live. Yay!

In this photo, the cow was looking straight at the camera, as if it knew its photo was being taken. hehehe..

We fed the cow! It surprised me how long the cow's tongue was. And once the grass was in the cow's mouth, it had a firm grab of it. I tried pulling it back and the cow wouldn't let go. hahaha...

Timmy had fun with the chickens there.
He saw the rooster...

and the hen...

and mother chicken and little chicken! Yay!

He had fun following them around.
trying to converse with them in a "cock....cock.." voice. Hehehe...

Tim, you should see this.
The REAL mother chicken and little chicken and YOUR mother chicken and little chicken. Hahahahaha...

And the duck!
Hello Ducky Duck! Quackk....quack... hehehehehe...

The happy and content boy, watching from a distant...

The duck was thirsty and drank the water...

And oh! We saw tadpoles!

Caterpillar

And I don't know whose house is this. Never seen ants' house this big. Could it be the hole made by earth worm? Or a house of crickets?

Father and son looked at the rabbit's house...

We crossed this wooden bridge.

Timmy was reluctant to go at the beginning.

"It's okay Timmy, Papa holds your hand. Come on, let's go."

And he finally did, spotted him looking down halfway down the bridge. hehehe...

We saw a truck full of vegetables that day and bought lots of cheap and fresh vegetables that day.

The growing paddy field...

We had fun that day going back to nature.
Timmy enjoyed the encounter with the animals...mimicking their sound, following them around.
And we bought the fresh milk, which was turned into the yummy macaroni panggang. :)

Don't be Discouraged

God is on Your Side
"The Lord will fight for you." Exodus 14:14
I read these words and draw in a deep breath. I need them right now. Don't we all? Oh, we may not go to war.
But we fight...
for relationships
for dreams
We battle...
against illness
against discouragement
I think of you staring at the screen, perhaps feeling your strength is small. Oh, yes, I know what that's like.
But victory isn't up to us.
And those words you sometimes hear?
"You're not worth fighting for."
They're a lie. Nothing more.
This is the truth from the heart of One who calls you His own:
You are loved.
You are worth fighting for.
You are even worth dying for.
So go into your day, strong friend, knowing that nothing can defeat you.
You've already won.

~Teacher~

THE CREATION OF THE TEACHER
by Jelyn Mina

The Good Lord was creating teachers.
It was His sixth day of 'overtime' and He knew that this was a tremendous responsibility,
for teachers would touch the lives of so many impressionable young children.
An angel appeared to Him and said, "You are taking a long time to figure this one out."
"Yes," said the Lord, " but have you read the specs on this order?"

TEACHER

... must stand above all students, yet be on their level
... must be able to do 180 things not connected with the subject being taught
... must run on coffee, coke and leftovers,
... must communicate vital knowledge to all students daily and be right most of the time
... must have more time for others than for herself/himself
... must have a smile that can endure through pay cuts, problematic children, and worried parents
... must go on teaching when parents question every move and others are not supportive
... must have 6 pair of hands.

"Six pair of hands, " said the angel, "that's impossible"
"Well, " said the Lord, " it is not the hands that are the problem.
It is the three pairs of eyes that are presenting the most difficulty!"

The angel looked incredulous, " Three pairs of eyes... on a standard model?"

The Lord nodded His head, " One pair can see a student for what he is and not what others have labeled him as. Another pair of eyes is in the back of the teacher's head to see what should not be seen, but what must be known.
The eyes in the front are only to look at the child as he/she 'acts out' in order to reflect,
"I understand and I still believe in you", without so much as saying a word to the child."

"Lord, " said the angel, " this is a very large project and I think
you should work on it tomorrow".
"I can't," said the Lord, " for I have come very close to creating something much like Myself.
I have one that comes to work when he/she is sick...
teaches a class of children that do not want to learn...
has a special place in his/her heart for children who are not his/her own...
understands the struggles of those who have difficulty...
never takes the students forgranted..."

The angel looked closely at the model the Lord was creating.
"It is too softhearted, " said the angel.
"Yes," said the Lord, " but also tough,
You can not imagine what this teacher can endure or do, if necessary".
"Can this teacher think?" asked the angel.
"Not only think," said the Lord,. "but reason and compromise."

The angel came closer to have a better look at the model
and ran his finger over the teacher's cheek.

"Well, Lord, " said the angel, your job looks fine but there is a leak.
I told you that you were putting too much into this model.
You can not imagine the stress that will be placed upon the teacher."

The Lord moved in closer and lifted the drop of moisture from the teacher's cheek.
It shone and glistened in the light.
"It is not a leak," He said, "It is a tear."
"A tear? What is that?" asked the angel, "What is a tear for?"

The Lord replied with great thought,
"It is for the joy and pride of seeing a child accomplish even the smallest task.
It is for the loneliness of children who have a hard time to fit in
and it is for compassion for the feelings of their parents.
It comes from the pain of not being able to reach some children
and the disappointment those children feel in themselves.
It comes often when a teacher has been with a class for a year
and must say goodbye to those students
and get ready to welcome a new class."

"My, " said the angel, " The tear thing is a great idea...You are a genius!!"
The Lord looked somber, "I didn't put it there."

Dhammananda's 6th Birthday

The following photos were taken during Timmy's class mate 6th birthday party, which was held at KFC on 20th February 2011.

Timmy with Kevin and Dhammananda, ... and Chaki!

Note to Timmy:
Tim, Mama likes the way you are braver now, compared than when you were younger.
You dare to sit by yourself with peer friends, away from me.
And even participated in the game!

The way you shared your game with Kevin and Dhammananda is very good.
That's the beauty of friendship.
Keep up the good work Tim.

We're proud of you and we love you!

Timmy, 5 Years and 5 Months Old

Timmy,

It has been wonderful years with you in our family, which was filled with ups and downs.
We are glad that God has entrusted you into our family.
I know that I am far from a perfect parent for you.
Sometimes, I lost my patience over you.

Our days are merrier with you around.
May we always ask for God's grace and help in bringing you up.
We thank God for looking after you all these years...
We thank God for loving you...

We have had lots of fun during your growing up moments...

Philips, Eye-Fi

Yay! Our new reading lamp is sitting nicely on the table now.

I have been wanting to buy a new reading lamp.
The previous one was too glare, until we found Philips Eye-Fi. The perfect solutions to our need.

It:
- is gentle on our eyes with Anti-Glare buffle. The fins reduces direct and reflected glare to minimize eye fatigue without compromising on brightness.
- has maximum clarity with Optilite reflector, which provides a bright and scientific light distribution across the working place.
- has 360 degree panoramic view, 3D adjustable arms and ergonomic controls, enables adjustability in virtually all planes for right lighting at the right place.

Ok, now I starts to sound like an advertisement. hahahaha...
I guess I'm just too happy!
