Fuzzy Egg Experiment

Benny bought us 101 Science Experiments book, and we thought of trying out the first one.

I had some quail eggs in the fridge.
So, I thought of using it instead of the chicken egg.

We put each egg in a separate glass.
The blue glass was filled with water.
The transparent one was filled with vinegar.

The interesting part was:
The egg which was dipped in the vinegar started to fuzz not long after it was in it.
The calcium carbonate which was in the egg shell dissolved, thereby creating a fizz.

The longer the egg stayed in the vinegar, the more fizz there was.
And after sometime, the brown part on the surface of the quail egg started to float.
Interesting.

We can see in the middle photo, the comparison between the egg in the vinegar and the one in the water.
The one in the water remained the same.
But the one in the vinegar, fizzed.

After some time, the egg in the vinegar has lost its brown spots, as you can see from the photo below.
It has a smooth skin now. hehehehe..

Sea World Indonesia

Yesterday, we visited SeaWorld Indonesia at Ancol.
It was fun.
The trip was supposed to be last week, but because Benny and Timmy had tummy ache last week,
so we postpone it to the week after.

Timmy is entering a new milestone.
Eversince this 3rd grade, he refused to watch Disney Junior anymore.
Everytime this TV is on, it's National Geographic Wild. hahahaha...
So, we thought of bringing him to SeaWorld, to see the fishes right before his eyes.

It was fun!

Disney Junior vs National Geographic Wild

Eversince Timmy enters 3rd grade school, he refused to watch Disney Junior anymore.
When he was little up to 2nd grade, whenever the TV's on, it's Disney Junior.
He didn't like other cartoon channels too. Just Disney Junior.

The fact that he refuses to watch Disney Junior anymore amazes me.
Now, whenever the TV is on, it's National Geographic Wild. Hahahahaha...

Well, I have to admit that I do like to watch NatGeo Wild.
I think he gets it from me. Like mother like son? :)

But, I'm still amazed that he totally switched his TV preference.
Sometimes, I deliberately changed the channel to Disney Junior and he would say:
"Mom, I don't like to watch this anymore. It's so childish."

Oh...I guess it's another growing-up stage that I have to go through.   Hahahahaha...
Another milestone.

Sleepless Night

It has been a while since I had my sleepless night.
Those were the days, when Timmy was little.

Recently, I had those sleepless night again.
When Timmy said that he can't sleep, he was restless, and threw up at night.
I read him bedtime stories, made him milk, tucked him in bed and said our night prayer together,  accompanied him to sleep...

Just as I thought that he has fallen asleep, I gently got out of bed, tiptoed to my room.
Just a few steps of my walking, Timmy woke up.
He realised that I was awake.

There I go again, went back to his bed, slept beside him.
The process happened several times.
That night I had my sleepless night.

It reminded me of Timmy's baby and toddler days...
When I had to wake up several times at night,
to feed him milk....
to comfort him when he cried....
to rock him in my craddle....

I'm glad that those days are over....
And the recent occasion reminded me of those early motherhood days....

I can't bear the thought of having another baby.
I don't think that I'll have the energy and strength of waking up at night....
then having to wake up in the morning to prepare breakfast for Timmy, and send him to school,
then having to take care of the baby, when I come back from school for the baby...
There is no way that I'll have the energy needed.

Now, when Timmy has gone to school,
I can rest for a while, then clean the house, or go to the bank, or hang out with other mothers for a while,
or go to the market, and cook.
I like my life now.

Well, marriage and motherhood is full of ups and downs...
I need to learn along the way...
And may God guide me along the way...
to become the kind of self,
to become the kind of wife,
to become the kind of mother,
that God wants me to be....
Please guide me God...
Amen.

Prayer

Do You Like It When I'm not around Mom?

One day after school, Timmy suddenly asked me:
Tim: "Mom, do you like it when I'm not around? So you can do things peacefully on your own?"

Well, I told him:
Me: "I like having you around Tim... You make my day bright, you keep me busy, and you accompany me. I like being your Mom.

But there are times when you have to go to school, and I have to do my job too.
To buy groceries, to clean the house, etc.   And sometimes I can do those things faster on my own.
Sometimes I do need the peace and quiet too at home, the time for myself...to unwind...."

Candy Crush Saga

When I first started to play Candy Crush Saga, the following conversation occured:

Me: How can I clear all the jelly if it keeps coming down? After I cleared 3 jellies, others came down again.

Tim: No Mom, that's not the jelly you have to clear.

Me: What do you mean? Isn't.these are all jellies?

Tim: It's not the jelly you have to clear. The ones you must clear is the square transparant ones.

Me: Which one?

Tim: These ones.

Me: Oohhhh.... Hahaha. Thanks Tim. Hahaha.
