Food...Food...and more Food...

From the airport, we headed straight to Danau Toba. (Lake Toba, in Sumatra).
It was about 4-5 hours ride.

On the way, we stopped by Pematang Siantar for lunch.
We just had to try the original version of Bakmie Pematang Siantar.
There are lots of people selling it here in Jakarta.
So, while we were there, why not try the original version? Hehehe...

After lunch, we walked to the nearby bakery.
It was jammed packed with people.
The bakery is called "Ganda".
The jammed packed bakery.

We bought these yummy "Srikaya bread".
The photo on the top left corner is the chocolate messes with cream.
The lady was putting the Srikaya jam on the bread, straight from the big pot.
I've never seen a bakery serving bread that way...
Look at the rows of bread loaf behind her, as you can see from the middle photo. Wow! Plenty!
There were rows like that, on both side of the bakery, right through the back of the bakery.

The boy is watching....

The variety of food that they sell there.

Grandpa and grandson....looking at what to buy.

They also sell "Bika Ambon" and Pandan Shiffon cake, etc.

And of course, Ak-Am and Teng-Teng.
The famous peanut candy from Pematang Siantar.
Our family like the "Ak-Am", the one in blue packaging. :)
It's crunched peanut covered with caramel and topped with sesame seeds. Yum!

From there, we stopped by authentic coffee shop.
The old style version. Hahaha..
The machines

Look at the way he brew it.
Ah.....a  cup of coffee with roti bakar coklat keju.
Yummmy! Yummy! Yummy!

Roti bakar coklat keju. (Toasted bread with chocolate & cheese)

And on the way back to the car, we stopped by this Pork Roast store.
We called it "Babi Panggang" here.
Bought some, packed it and will eat it later.

Had too much to eat that  day...
But it was yummy!
Hahahaha...

Look at this becak.
It's available for rent, to bring you from here to there.
Different version from the one in Jakarta.
They modified the motor, add passenger seats beside it and....voila!  Hahaha.
Becak....pitt...pitt..
