Dokter Cilik

We joined the event "Aku Dokter Cilik".
It was fun! Letting Timmy learn to make friends and have fun together.
Timmy went with his friends, Owen and Rianna.

Owen, Timmy, Rianna
So that tday, they went through several things:
- Accident and Emergency Room.
- Dentist Room
- Pharmacy Room
- Nursery Room
- Operating Theatre

I am glad that Timmy is friendlier now.
In this photo, he was chit chatting with Rianna.
Timmy and Rianna

The 'little doctors' in the Accident and Emergency Room.
They wore the Doctor's suit, and the stethoscope.

Timmy tried to listen to his own heartbeat. Hahaha...

Listening to the instruction from the nurse.

Pretending to be Dr. Timotius. Hehehe..
Which part hurts Owen?  Keluhannya apa? Sakit dimana? Then listened to his heartbeat.

Then they took turn, Owen being the Doctor, and Timmy the patient.
Sakit apa Tim? Hahaha..

The Little Doctors. Hahaha..
Then they went to the Pharmacy Room, where they learned how to make the 'medicine'.
It was actually sugar, where they have to refine it, and put it into the capsule.
But it was fun, so they know that this is what happened to their real medicine.

Grinding the 'medicine'
Concentrating on being the Pharmacist. Hehehe..

When it's done, they put it into the capsule.

Timmy with his medicine. 2 capsules were made that day. :)

In the Dentist Room, they learned on the correct way of brushing teeth.

There were 7 kids in the group. Ryan was not in the picture.

Owen and Timmy.

Learning how to brush teeth the proper way.

Then they proceeded to the Nursery Room, where they learned how to handle a baby.
After touching this and that, they were taught how to wash their hands before the touch the baby.

Learning how to wash hand properly.

I told Timmy that this was the bed where he slept when he was born in the hospital too.
So that's how tiny you were.

Smiling as they hold the baby. Hahaha.

The big boys with the babies.

They learned about what temperature is having a fever, and what's not.
Above 37.5 degree celcius is considered as having a fever.
And below 37.5 is not having a fever.
checking in the temperature.

Getting the baby from the crib
I told Timmy, the baby cannot use the scale that we normally use, because they can't stand yet.
So, their scale is like that, lying down.
When you were little, you were weighed that way too.
Weigh the baby.

How heavy is the baby Tim?

Checked on the temperature

Oke, angkat lagi bayinya. Taruh di ranjang lagi ya..

Smiling while holding it.

Bobo lagi ya...

Put the blanket on again, big brother.

Sleep tight baby. Hahaha.

Playing with the soft toys.. Argghh..the shark is biting the lady bug.

Playing with Ryan.

Boys being boys, not long after, they were doing Karate move, and threw the soft toys at each other, as if it was a ball.  While the girls were playing and fiddling with the baby.
Boys being boys...
And the boys were covering the baby's face with 'Octopus'. Hahahaha...
Aiya...girls and boys are different since they are kids. Hahahaha...

Timmy and Owen were weighing the Lady Bug, Octopus, Sharks, etc altogether. Hahaha.

Then when the nurse came back, they learned how to handle a baby.
Changing the diapers, changing the clothes, and wrapping them.

Hahaha..in this picture the boys where staring at the baby.
Ok, so this is the baby, what do we do? Hahahaha..
Okay, so this is the baby, what do we do?
Aiya...pee pee and poop poop already. Must change diapers....

Then must change the shirt. So, to change the baby's shirt, must lay down the shirt first before the baby.

Put one hand in, then the other...

Then learned to wrap the baby. 'Bedong' is what we called it in Indonesian.

Operating Theatre.

Put on the cap, mask, and gloves.

Dr. Timotius and Dr. Owen. :)

Rianna, Timotius, Owen
Hiatttt....trying out the purple first. Hahahaha...
Kids being kids, just a simple apparatus, can get their imagination moving.

Kita mau mulai operasinya ya Dokter.
We are going to start the operations Doctors. They each hold their pinset.

So, this is inside our body.
This is our ribs, to protect our internal organs.

And it was over.
They got the Certificate.

Dokter Cilik with his purple fist. Hahaha...

Graduated 'Doctors'.  Doctor Timotius with his purple fist. Hahaha..

Mother and Son. Hehehe..

Playing Piano

My new job: as a piano teacher for Timmy. Hahahaha...

Studying for Final Exam ~ Semester 1

It was Final Exam season for Semester 1.

This year, the school is using 2013 National Curriculum, hence the books have been changed into "Tematik". ie, 1 book comprises of several topics, such as Math, Social Studies, Science, Language, etc.  (IPS, PKN, Math, Bahasa Indonesia, Sports, Art).

The part that we don't like is that for example, when we are learning about Pancasila;
Sila ke 1, is around page 10-ish.
Sila ke 2, contoh perbuatan yang sesuai dengan sila ke 2, is around page 30-ish.
Sila ke 3, is aroud page 40-ish,
etc.

Hence, when we were learning about PKN, we were flipping through pages of the book.
thoroughly the whole book.  Even the students get annoyed with it. Hahahaha... and the mothers too. Hahaha...

So, Timmy's book was full of post-it, labelling the pages for the subjects to be tested the next day.
and there are 4 books for Semester 1.    4A, 4B, 4C, 4D.
Imagine labelling 4 books for the pages that jumps here and there for covering 1 subject.
Argh...annoying at first.
But we get used to it towards the end. Hahahaha...

At the beginning of the final exam, I helped Timmy, label it, asked "him have you read this?"
"Read this, I think it's important."
And there are lots of other papers from the teachers notes, past monthly paper, Quiz, exercises at school.   To be honest, I was nervous.

Towards the middle of the exam, it was IPS. The topics covered were:

  • RT, RW, Kelurahan, pembuat KTP, Kepala Urusan Pembangunan, Kepala Urusan Kesejahteraan Rakyat, Kepala Desa, etc, and the lists of their jobs and responsibilities.
  • Masa Pra-Aksara
  • Kerajaan Hindu Budha di Indonesia, which comprises of a lot of Kerajaan, such as Kerajaan Kutai, Kerajaan Mataram Lama, Kerajaan Majapahit, Kerajaan Sriwijaya, etc. The kings that rules during those kingdom, what happened, what they built, etc.
  • Kerajaan Islam di Indonesia, like Kerajaan Samudra Pasai, Kerajaan Gowa Talo, Kerajaan Ternate, etc.
  • Lembaga sosial di Indonesia, such as Panti Jompo, Panti Asuhan, Panti Wreda,  YPAC, etc.

And I did something bold, crazy? Letting him study all that IPS on his own.
Nah....it must be done. Brave myself.

I tried to deviate my attention, by cleaning the house, aerobics, going for a walk, cooking.

These were the pictures of him studying on his own.
When he was studying, he munched kripik kentang Krispieto (Crispy Potato). hahaha.
Not long after that, lemper...
Not long after that, fruit tart...

Munching fruit tart while reading the book.

And on the "The Day" of the IPS exam, I had the nervous break-down.
He was eating his breakfast and I flipped through his past monthly papers, quiz, etc,
and asked him: have you read this Tim? And tests him some questions.
He said: "Mom, you are annoying. I wanna watch TV and eat breakfast." :p
It's the Mommy's syndrome.   Any of you have ever felt that way?

Nasi goreng telor, veggie, and Krispieto.

Well, well, well, there are lots of things for me to learn in being a Mom.
And one of them is learning to let go...
Build responsibilities...
And delete my yo-yo of inconsistency.
Be a consistent Mom.

Ah...May God help me, in being a consistent, loving Mom. Amen.
